Church Affirms the Calling of Two Gospel Ministers

Uncategorized October 27, 2026

As communities continue to seek spiritual guidance and hope, the Seventh-day Adventist Church affirmed the calling of Pastor Edward Valendez and Pastor Gary Rabaya through their ordination to the gospel ministry on October 23, 2026, at Bayugan City Central Seventh-day Adventist Church. The ceremony stitched a significant milestone in the two pastors’ commitment to proclaiming the gospel, nurturing believers, and bringing the hope of Jesus Christ to individuals, families, and communities.

In Gospel Workers (p. 442), Mrs. Ellen G. White describes ordination as “an acknowledged form of designation to an appointed office and a recognition of one’s authority in that office.” This underscores that ordination is more than a ceremonial recognition; it affirms the responsibilities entrusted to those called to serve God and His people. White further emphasizes the personal nature of pastoral service, writing, “Ministry means much more than sermonizing; it means earnest personal labor” (Gospel Workers, p. 185). Her counsel highlights the importance of reaching people beyond the pulpit through compassionate service, personal care, and meaningful engagement with communities.

For Pastors Valendez and Rabaya, this milestone signals a renewed commitment to these responsibilities. Alongside local congregations, they are called to strengthen faith, nurture spiritual growth, and share the message of salvation and the promise of Christ’s soon return.

Their ordination also serves as a reminder that sharing the gospel is a collective mission. Pastors and church members alike have a part in bringing hope to the discouraged, offering compassion to those in need, and helping others discover the transforming love of Jesus. As they continue their respective ministries, may God grant them wisdom, courage, and unwavering faithfulness in the work ahead.

The calling of the gospel ministry reaches far beyond the pulpit; it should reach hearts, restore hope, and point lives toward eternity. As these ministers answer God’s call, may every church member join them in carrying the light of Christ into homes and communities until every heart has heard the good news and every life has had the opportunity to know the Savior who is coming again.
